Sometimes, you’re just too sick to leave your bed, or too busy to leave your office. We get it. That’s why instead of having to come into one of our clinics, you can have a doctor’s appointment from the comfort of your phone or computer

Virtual Visits are part of our Your Care, Your Choice program, which offers three convenient ways to access the care you need, when you need it most. We also offer four Bay Area clinic locations and Mobile Urgent Care, where our providers come to you!

How do Virtual Visits work?
We offer two types of virtual visits: Direct Virtual Consults and Direct Virtual Video Visits. During each type of visit, you can see or speak with a provider remotely through our secure, HIPAA compliant smartphone app or live video conference. Our staff is here to guide you through the process of registering and downloading what you’ll need for your visit.
If you have any questions, we’ll answer them. If you need medicine, we’ll send an electronic prescription to the pharmacy of your choice so you can pick it up without waiting.

What’s the difference between a Direct Virtual Consult and a Direct Virtual Video Visit?
During a Direct Virtual Consult, you’ll answer some questions about your symptoms in the app and upload photos if needed. Our questionnaire is customized for each symptom, developed by physicians who have more than 20 years of Emergency Room training. A clinician will review your answers and text you their medical recommendation.

During a Direct Virtual Video Visit, our clinician will FaceTime you to discuss your condition and look at any physical symptoms that may be present to advise your medical options. We always have a board certified emergency medicine physician available by video to discuss diagnosis and treatment.

Which health issues do you treat with Virtual Visits?
Direct Virtual Consults can be used for the following:

  • Prescription Refills
  • Urinary Tract Infection
  • Allergies
  • Cold/Flu
  • Poison Oak
  • Back Pain
  • Rash
  • Conjunctivitis

Direct Virtual Video Visits can be used for the following: 

  • Rash
  • Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Urinary Tract Infection
  • Dental Pain
  • Muscle injury

The service can also be used for a number of follow-up needs, including routine follow-up appointments and appointments for recently discharged hospital patients who are at a high risk of being re-admitted.If your condition doesn’t fall under one of these categories, please look into our Mobile Urgent Care program or come see us at one of our clinics.

How soon can the visit take place?

Can I use Virtual Visits for medical emergencies?
No. For severe life-threatening illnesses, injuries or symptoms, we recommend that you call 911 for an ambulance or visit your nearest emergency room as soon as possible.

Can I expect the same quality of care as visiting a clinic?
Absolutely. Direct Urgent Care makes no compromises when it comes to the highest quality of care for all of our patients. Our clinicians are fully licensed to practice in the state of California, and they’ve each undergone years of medical school in addition to a minimum of three years of residency in an ER program.

How much do you charge?
Each Direct Virtual Consult costs $65. Each Direct Virtual Video Visit costs $100. Both types of Virtual Visit are offered via our Prompt Pay Discount Service. If you provide us with your insurance information, we can help you send a reimbursement claim to your insurance company.
